Pre-requisites and dependencies for the use of Walk Forward Pro

There are a few pre-requisites and dependencies that must be met in order for you to use Walk Forward Pro. You must make sure you read and fully understand these BEFORE continuing with your purchase of the product, because refunds can't be given for any of these reasons:

• Walk Forward Pro allows walk forward analysis to be performed using existing Expert Advisors (EAs) that you have either purchased or developed. No Expert Advisors are supplied as part of Walk Forward Pro.

• You must have full access to the source code of the Expert Advisor (the .mq4 or .mq5 source files) so that you can make some minor additions and re-compile the EA. To view the additions you will need to make see here

• Walk Forward Pro makes use of the standard MetaTrader Strategy Tester. The Expert Advisor(s) that you want to test using Walk Forward Pro, must therefore be capable of running properly in the standard MetaTrader Strategy Tester. If your EA does not work in the MetaTrader Strategy Tester then Walk Forward Pro can NOT be used to perform walk forward analysis on that Expert Advisor.

• No symbol/instrument price data is supplied as part of Walk Forward Pro. You must already have (or be prepared to load) data into your MetaTrader platform. Brokers usually provide some data as standard, but for longer testing periods you might consider sourcing data from alternative sources. Some data can be downloaded and used for free (e.g. from TickStory.com) or by purchasing data from a commercial data provider. Trade like a Machine cannot guarantee the quality of any data you choose to use for your walk forward analysis.

• Walk Forward Pro must be installed on the same PC (and using the same computer user account) as the instance of MetaTrader MT4 or MT5 that you want to use.

Recommended minimum hardware specification

The following provides the minimum hardware specifications for the PC that Walk Forward Pro will be installed on:

• Processor: 1GHz

• Memory: 4GB

However walk forward analyses will run quicker with higher specification PCs

Supported Operating Systems

Walk Forward Pro is installed on a single computer. The following operating systems are supported:

• Windows 10 - 32-bit and 64-bit

• Windows 8.1 - 32-bit, 64-bit and ARM

• Windows 8 - 32-bit, 64-bit and ARM

• Windows 7 SP1 - 32-bit and 64-bit

• Windows Server 2016 - 64-bit

• Windows Server 2012 R2 - 64-bit

• Windows Server 2012 (64-bit edition) - 64-bit

• Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1 - 64-bit

• Windows Server 2008 SP2 - 32-bit and 64-bit

Supported versions of .Net Framework

Walk Forward Pro requires the Microsoft .Net Framework with a minimum version of 4.5.2

There is a good chance this will already be installed on your computer, but if not, it will be automatically downloaded from Microsoft’s web servers when you initially install Walk Forward Pro. Note that .Net Framework version 4.6.x might be installed. This is fine and also compatible with Walk Forward Pro.

The .Net Framework might require administrator privileges in order to install. If you are installing on a work PC and do not have administrator rights to install the .Net Framework, contact your network administrator.

Supported Trading Platforms

Walk Forward Pro has been tested against the following trading platforms, versions and builds. Trade like a Machine cannot guarantee that Walk Forward Pro will work against any other build than specified, however we will endeavour to test against newly released builds soon after general release by the third party software supplier. As new platforms, versions and builds are supported this Software Specification will be updated.

  Note that MetaQuotes ceased support of MT4 builds older than build 1065 on 1st October 2017
